What are Pasta Chips?
Pasta chips are one of the latest Tik Tok trends that result in a crispy pasta seasoned with parmesan cheese, herbs, and garlic.
I decided to make vegan pasta chips with a twist! I wanted to go for a Dorito-like flavor and I’m pretty sure I nailed it. These crispy chips are also high in protein! I used chickpea flour pasta (Banza brand) which has 25 grams of protein per serving. These high-fiber, protein-packed pasta chips can be eaten as a healthy snack, so get your ingredients ready.
Ingredients and Substitutes:
Pasta: If you want to use regular pasta, go for it! It is also super delicious and crispy. Cooking time for regular pasta will be more like 6-8 minutes when boiling (check the package to be sure) and air fryer time will be more like 10-12 minutes. I highly recommend cooking pasta “al dente” because it will continue to cook more in the air fryer.
Oil: Avoid using more than 1 tablespoon of oil per 8 oz of pasta. I recommend using avocado oil but you can also use olive, canola, or sunflower oil.
Spices: I went for a “Dorito” flavor with this recipe but you can feel free to use any spices you’d like. If you want to get an Italian flavor try using Italian blend seasoning and so on.
Nutritional yeast: This is the best vegan cheese replacement. It is similar to adding parmesan cheese to your food. I highly recommend trying it if you have not already!
Dips: I think a great dip for these would be vegan ranch or hummus. However, I love eating them just as is.
Making Pasta Chips in 5 Easy Steps
- Cook pasta al dente.
- Drain and rinse pasta.
- Add to a mixing bowl with oil and seasonings.
- Toss pasta until well combined.
- Air fry until crispy and enjoy!
