Description

This agua de jamaica recipe is slightly tart, perfectly sweetened, and incredibly refreshing. It’s one of the most popular Mexican aguas frescas that pairs well with your favorite Mexican dishes.


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup dried Jamaica (hibiscus flowers)
  • 8 cups boiling water
  • 1/4 cup sugar or sugar substitute

Instructions

  1. Add Jamaica to a large bowl or pot.
  2. Pour in boiling water, and sugar and let steep for 30 minutes.
  3. If adding liquid sweetener like agave or stevia syrup you can add it after it has cooled off.
  4. Drain the Jamaica and keep the flowers to make a delicious recipe.
  5. Add 2 cups of ice-cold water to help the Jamaica cool off.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetener if needed.
  7. Pour over ice and enjoy!
