Description

This chamoy recipe makes the perfect tangy, sweet, and spicy sauce to pour over your fruit or add to your favorite drink! All you need is 6 ingredients and 1 hour to make a batch that will last you all month.


Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup dried hibiscus
  • 1/2 cup prunes
  • 1 1/2 cup dried mango OR apricot OR both
  • 1/2 cup white sugar, or to taste
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup chili powder (like tajin)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice

Instructions

  1. Add water, dried fruits, hibiscus flowers, sugar, and chili powder to a small pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Bring it down to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes.
  3. Turn the heat off and let it cool for 20 minutes.
  4. Add it all to a blender along with the lime juice and blend for 3 minutes until super smooth.
  5. Taste and add extra chili, lime or water to achieve your desired taste and consistency.
  6. Pour it into a sealable container and store it in the refrigerator for up to a month.
