Description

This savory, saucy, peanut sauce tofu will take your tofu game to another level! Pair it with a side of rice and some veggies for a perfectly balanced meal.


Ingredients

Scale

Tofu:

  • 1 block of extra firm tofu
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast

Sauce:

  • 1 cup of vegetable broth⁣
  • 2 tablespoons Tamari or low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup or brown sugar
  • 12 tablespoons 100% creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha or chili sauce of your choice (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Tofu:

  1. Freeze, thaw completely, and press tofu before cooking. (OPTIONAL but results in great texture).
  2. Cut the tofu into 3/4-inch cubes or use your hands to break it into pieces like nuggets.
  3. Add the tofu to a mixing bowl.
  4. Add garlic powder and nutritional yeast. Toss to coat evenly.
  5. Fry in the air at 390 ° for 18-20 minutes. Flip every 7-8 minutes to cook evenly OR bake at 400 for 24-28 minutes and also flip every 7-8 minutes for best results.
  6. Check it for crispiness and dip it in the sauce!

Sauce:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a bowl and beat until well incorporated.
  2. Add the sauce to a skillet over medium-low heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  3. Add the tofu to the skillet and coat evenly with the sauce.
  4. Serve over brown rice and top with green onions!
