Garlic Avocado Toast
I came up with the idea of adding lightly fried garlic in olive oil to avocado on a slow Sunday morning while making brunch with my husband. I typically add lemon juice or sriracha to “spice up” my avocado toast, but this day was not a sriracha or lemon juice kind of day. As soon as we took that first bite of avocado toast, I knew I had to make it an official recipe. I mean, it probably already exists? However, it is not getting the recognition it deserves! Once you give it a try, I promise you’ll be having this garlic avocado toast weekly.
Garlic Avocado Toast Ingredients
Bread: I recommend using sourdough or whole-grain bread for this recipe. However, feel free to use your favorite kind!
Mini Sweet Peppers: I love the flavor that these peppers add. If you can’t find these, I recommend using regular bell peppers.
Garlic: I’ve used fresh garlic and pre-minced garlic from a jar to make this recipe and they both came out amazing. I don’t think I have a preference so use whatever is most accessible to you!
Olive oil: I recommend using extra virgin olive oil. Make sure to not cook on low heat just enough for the garlic to sizzle for 45 seconds. Do not cook olive oil on high heat because it has a low smoking point and can release toxins at high heat.
Olives: I love using top-quality olives! Use your favorite olives or try my favorite Olives from Spain.

Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread
- 4 mini sweet peppers
- 1 avocado
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Spiced Olives:
- 1/2 cup Olives from Spain
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp paprika powder
- 1/8 tsp cayenne powder
Instructions
- Slice mini red peppers and saute in a pan with a little oil until cooked down. Season lightly with salt and set aside.
- Mince garlic. In the same pan, add 1 tbsp of olive oil over low heat. Once the oil is hot, add the garlic and cook for about 45 seconds stirring it consistently. Once the garlic is golden and aromatic, pour the garlic olive oil into a ramekin or small bowl to cool off.
- Mash the avocado with a little salt to taste. Pour the garlic olive oil on top of the mashed avocado and stir it in until it’s well incorporated.
- Add olives to a small bowl. You can pit the olives or use them whole. Add in olive oil, paprika, cayenne, and stir in.
- Toast bread, spread a layer of mashed avocado, sweet red peppers, and then top off with spiced olives and black pepper!
