Is guacamole healthy?

Guacamole is made with nutrient-rich ingredients that are packed with vitamins and minerals. Avocado is a healthy fat that also contains fiber so it’s great for blood sugar control and it helps improve energy throughout the day. The rest of the ingredients are vegetables so it’s almost like a little salad. Guacamole is a nutritious dip that can be added to a balanced meal.

Guacamole Recipe Ingredients

This easy guacamole recipe comes together with just six simple ingredients:

  • Avocado
  • Tomatoes
  • Onion
  • Jalapeño (optional)
  • Cilantro
  • Lime
  • Salt

For best flavor use fresh, ripe avocados when possible. Remember that avocados are unique and can have different textures even though they are ripe. Traditionally made with white onion, I love using red onion as the flavor is milder.

Everyone’s spice tolerance is different so use the amount of jalapeño pepper that best suits your spicy tolerance. It also depends on the pepper, some jalapeños can be very spicy and others taste like bell peppers! If you want a spicy guacamole recipe, try using Serrano for the ultimate experience. PRO TIP: Make it a high-protein guac by adding some blended edamame beans or beans of choice.
