The BEST Roasted Garlic Bread!

I may or may not be biased, but this will be the best garlic bread you’ll ever try! One of the reasons is because I share 3 different ways to make it. Everyone is different and I know there are various preferences out there. In this recipe, I’ll show you 3 different ways you can prepare your garlic bread; in the oven, and two griddle options.

The garlic butter is creamy and contains a thick mixture of perfectly roasted garlic cloves. You cannot go wrong here! I also include various ways to prepare it for various textures; solid, creamy, and liquid. You can utilize this roasted garlic butter or spread on bread, pasta, or even on baked tofu!

Ingredients:

  • Garlic – The time of roasting garlic can vary depending on the size, age, as well as the type of oven. I have also used the “roast/bake” setting on my air fryer and it cooked faster than usual! It’s also nice to not have to preheat your oven. So if you have an air-fryer with a “roast” option, use it!
  • Olive oil – Helps roast the garlic to perfection, highly recommend using it! I also use it to grill my bread when I want to smear the garlic butter on fresh right before eating it.
  • Vegan butter – My all-time favorite is Earth Balance which you can find almost at any grocery store; Trader Joe’s, Grocery Outlet, Safeway, Sprouts, Whole Foods, etc.
  • Fresh parsely – Adds the perfect touch of “herby-ness”!
  • Bread – I highly recommend using sourdough bread! You can use whichever is your favorite too.

3 Ways to Make Vegan Garlic Butter

  1. As a creamy spread: keep butter at room temperature for an hour or so. Follow recipe and serve immediately. Can stay at room temperature for up to 5 hours.
  2. Solid butter texture: Same as above but refrigerate for 1 hour and then use as “solid butter” on toast, bread, etc.
  3. Olive oil instead of butter: substitute with 1/2 cup olive oil and follow recipe. Dip your bread in it as you would regular olive oil/balsamic mix. Love this option so much as well!

Description

This roasted garlic bread recipe is a comforting slice of heaven! Imagine biting into this grilled bread that is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, topped with a creamy, herby, vegan garlic butter spread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 heads garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup vegan butter (room temp)
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley
  • 1 loaf of sourdough bread (or bread of choice)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F (204 C).
  2. Slice about 1/4 inch off the top of the “garlic head” and make sure you can see all the individual cloves of garlic inside.
  3. Place all heads of garlic on a sheet of foil big enough to close. Drizzle with olive and sprinkle with salt. Fully wrap the garlic in the foil.
  4. Bake for 30-40 minutes. Time will depend on size of garlic as well as type of oven. Once garlic appears to be golden-brown, they are done!
  5. Take them out of the oven and let them fully cool off. Once cooled, use your hands to pinch the cloves out or use a fork to squeeze them out.
  6. In a medium bowl, add roasted garlic cloves and mash well. Next, add vegan butter and parsley. Mix until well incorporated. Taste and add salt as needed.
